News Summary

The FIA World Endurance Championship has confirmed its entry list for the 2026 season finale at Monza, where three of the championship’s four titles remain undecided. The 6 Hours of Monza takes place from November 6 to 8 and will feature a decisive internal battle between Toyota’s two Hypercar crews after the Japanese manufacturer secured the Constructors’ crown at Barcelona.

The event will also mark the final professional race of two-time endurance World Champion Mike Conway, adding another significant storyline to a weekend in which the LMGT3 championship and the battle for second place among Hypercar manufacturers remain open.

Toyota enters Monza with two crews fighting for the title

Toyota’s victory in the Hypercar Manufacturers’ Championship was confirmed at the previous round in Barcelona.

However, the Drivers’ Championship remains unresolved, with the manufacturer’s two GR010 Hybrid crews set to fight for the crown.

The #8 Toyota will be driven by Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa, while the #7 crew consists of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries.

The championship’s official preview indicates that the teams are preparing to contest the title without team orders, creating the possibility of a direct battle between the two cars.

The internal fight will take place at one of endurance racing’s most recognisable venues.

Monza’s long straights, heavy braking zones and relatively low-downforce configuration place significant emphasis on efficiency, traffic management and tyre performance.

The race also demands careful strategic decisions because losing time behind slower cars can have substantial consequences during a six-hour event.

Conway prepares for final professional appearance

For Conway, the Italian round represents more than a championship decider.

The British driver has confirmed that Monza will be his final professional race before retiring from competition.

His career has included major achievements in endurance racing, including two World Championships and victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

He will share the #7 Toyota with Kobayashi and de Vries, giving the crew an opportunity to conclude his career with another world title.

Conway’s retirement also marks the end of an important period in Toyota’s endurance programme, with the manufacturer preparing to continue its Hypercar project into 2027.

Ferrari, BMW and Cadillac fight for second place

Although Toyota has already secured the manufacturers’ crown, the remaining positions are undecided.

BMW, Ferrari and Cadillac are contesting second place in the Hypercar Manufacturers’ Championship.

Their results in Monza will determine the final order behind Toyota after a season in which several manufacturers have challenged for victories and podiums.

For Ferrari, the event also represents an important opportunity on home soil.

The Italian manufacturer enters the race seeking to finish its championship campaign strongly in front of its supporters.

Cadillac and BMW, meanwhile, will attempt to translate their season-long progress into a higher championship position.

LMGT3 title battle remains open

The LMGT3 Drivers’ Championship is also undecided.

The #33 TF Sport Corvette arrives as championship leader, while the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Sport Corvette remains in contention.

Porsche and BMW are also mathematically capable of winning the title.

Manthey strengthened its position by winning the previous round in Spain with the #92 The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Team WRT’s #69 BMW M4 GT3 Evo remains an outside contender, requiring a particularly strong result and setbacks for its rivals.
