“There were a few things we stopped to check, but we didn’t stay stopped for three hours before returning to the track,” explained team principal James Barclay. “We did everything as if we were running a race: if there was something we wanted to stop and check because we didn’t want to risk damaging something, we made a quick stop, checked it, and went back out on track.”
The 30-hour run tested not only the chassis and twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain, but also operational procedures across pit stops and driver rotations involving factory drivers like Mikkel Jensen and Laurens Vanthoor.
“The fact that we managed to complete the first 30 hours of testing so early in the program is really very positive, and we had many important learnings from it,” Barclay added.
When asked whether the prototype’s appearance will evolve significantly ahead of homologation, Barclay noted that the core package is already close to its final configuration: “Visually, there won’t be major changes compared to what we see now.”
