With a freshly renewed contract keeping him at Williams at least until the end of the 2027 Formula 1 season, Alexander Albon pointed to the team’s ongoing “transformation” during his tenure at Grove. Signed in 2022, the Thai driver has faced a challenging 2026 season dealing with the FW48’s persistent issues, but emphasized that recent hurdles should not overshadow the technical progress made behind the scenes. Furthermore, he expressed complete confidence in turning around the team’s on-track form.
“Since I joined Williams in 2022, it’s hard to put into words the level of transformation this team has undergone. One difficult year doesn’t tell the whole story and only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans so that we achieve great things,” Albon celebrated.
As Formula 1 prepares to resume action with the Dutch Grand Prix, Albon holds five points in the Drivers’ Championship, trailing teammate Carlos Sainz by a single point. Despite Williams’ current performance struggles, the driver remains firm in his belief that a return to the front of the midfield is within reach.
“Our story isn’t over yet, and my full focus is on doing everything possible to take us back to the front of the grid,” he added.
Formula 1 resumes track action August 21–23 at Circuit Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix, marking Round 12 of the 2026 World Championship. GRANDE PRÊMIO is covering all activities live on-site in Zandvoort with reporter Leonid Kliuev.
