Kimi Antonelli extended his lead in the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship to 89 points after finishing fourth in Saturday’s Singapore GP sprint, while Mercedes teammate George Russell crashed out shortly after taking the lead from Max Verstappen.
Antonelli now has 325 points against Russell’s 236, with the Briton failing to score for the second consecutive race weekend following his retirement at Sepang. Russell had started second at Marina Bay and overtook Verstappen at the start, but crashed into the barriers on the second lap.
Verstappen went on to win the sprint, collecting eight points and moving ahead of Lando Norris in the championship. The Red Bull driver now has 196 points, seven more than Norris, who finished eighth after colliding with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri on the final lap.
Lewis Hamilton strengthened his hold on third place with seven points for finishing second, reaching 221. Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc collected six points for third and moved to 197, just one ahead of Verstappen.

Ferrari cuts Mercedes’ lead as Red Bull approaches McLaren
Mercedes remains comfortably ahead in the Constructors’ Championship with 561 points, but Ferrari reduced the deficit to 143 after Hamilton and Leclerc delivered a double podium.
Ferrari added 13 points, reaching 418, while Mercedes scored five through Antonelli’s fourth place.
McLaren suffered a particularly costly sprint. Norris and Piastri collided on the final lap, leaving the Australian out of the race and Norris eighth.
The result means McLaren has 317 points, only 11 ahead of Red Bull, which reached 306 through Verstappen’s victory.
Racing Bulls strengthened fifth place with Liam Lawson’s fifth-place finish, reaching 94 points. Haas increased its total to 30 through Oliver Bearman, while Nico Hülkenberg added two points for Audi.
