The tension surrounding the Middle East is very close to permanently altering the 2026 Formula 1 calendar. Following the cancellation of the rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the ongoing conflicts in the region, GRANDE PRÊMIO has learned that the category’s scheduled races in the area will be definitively called off as military actions continue to plague the region.

This means that, in addition to the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia—originally set to host the fourth and fifth rounds of the championship—the events in Qatar and Abu Dhabi will also not take place. The race at the Losail International Circuit was scheduled as the penultimate round of the calendar on November 29, with the season finale set for the following week at Yas Marina.

Now, Formula 1 is trying to decide whether the races will be replaced or simply canceled, which would reduce the number of rounds from 24 to 20. GRANDE PRÊMIO understands that the Las Vegas GP, scheduled to take place between November 20 and 22, is an option to host the season finale. This would turn the São Paulo GP into the penultimate round of the championship, though no final decision has been made yet.

Initially, the FIA was expected to announce the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian rounds. However, the category’s official statement used carefully chosen phrasing to indicate that both races could potentially be rescheduled on the calendar if the situation in the Middle East improved—which did not happen. Consequently, Qatar and Abu Dhabi were also affected, and a final decision is expected during the summer break.
