Lando Norris described his victory at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix as “one of the best” of his Formula 1 career after fighting back from an early setback to claim his second win of the season.
Despite starting on pole position, the McLaren driver lost the lead to Andrea Kimi Antonelli during the standing restart following a Lap 1 red flag. However, Norris managed his tires effectively, closing down a five-second deficit to Antonelli’s struggling Mercedes in the final stint.
“A tough race. Yesterday I said I needed to put on a show in this last race here. Today I made things difficult for myself, but it was a great race and a great battle. Probably one of my best victories—we really had to fight for it,” Norris explained after the race.
Norris bided his time behind Antonelli before executing a bold maneuver around the outside of Turn 1 on Lap 54.
“The move was good! I knew I wouldn’t have many opportunities, and with every lap behind them, the chances were fading,” Norris revealed. “I made a few adjustments to the brake balance, trusted the car on the brakes, and that move gave me the victory. It was just very well executed. I knew I had to make it stick.”
The victory marks a memorable farewell for Norris at Circuit Zandvoort as the track departs the calendar following the 2026 event.
