Max Verstappen was brief in his comments, but made it clear that Red Bull still has work to do in Hungary to get the car into better shape for the remainder of the weekend. The main complaint from the four-time Formula 1 World Champion centered on balance, particularly regarding race pace for the event in Budapest.
Despite some struggles, the Dutchman ended FP1 in second place with a 1:19.559, nearly 0.5s off session-leader Charles Leclerc. Moments later in FP2, he set a 1:19.421 on the clock to put himself fourth, this time 0.692s behind Lewis Hamilton, who showcased the full strength of the Ferrari at the Hungaroring circuit.
“It was a bit of a tricky day. We struggled to find a good balance with the car,” Verstappen said following F1 practice. “We need to get to a point where the lap flows better, including when looking at the long runs. So, there’s still work to do for tomorrow,” he concluded.
