News Summary

Formula 1 is on track today, Friday, November 6, with two free practice sessions at the São Paulo Grand Prix. FP1 runs from 12:30 to 13:30 local time at Interlagos, and FP2 from 16:00 to 17:00. In the UK, that means a mid-afternoon start followed by an evening session. On the US and Canadian West Coast, both sessions are on Friday morning.

The 2026 event follows a conventional Grand Prix format. Both Friday sessions are free practice. The battle for pole comes on Saturday, after a third hour of running. The full São Paulo Grand Prix timetable also has Sunday’s race start.

Who is driving in FP1 at Interlagos?

Six teams have announced practice-only changes. Dino Beganovic takes Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, Leonardo Fornaroli drives Oscar Piastri’s McLaren and Luke Browning steps into Carlos Sainz’s Williams. Gabriele Minì replaces Pierre Gasly at Alpine, Freddie Slater takes Nico Hülkenberg’s Audi and Colton Herta drives Sergio Pérez’s Cadillac. The six regulars are scheduled to resume their programmes in FP2.

Rafael Câmara will also be on track in FP1, but he is entered for the Grand Prix itself with Haas. The opening session gives him his first laps of the weekend alongside Oliver Bearman as a Haas race driver.

What to watch as practice begins

Drivers will get their first race-weekend look at the new asphalt and lower kerbs at Interlagos. Two stretches of the lap have been resurfaced, and yellow apex kerbs have been lowered at Turns 2, 8 and 10. Friday is the first chance for teams to see how those changes affect grip and how the cars ride the kerbs.

FP2 also puts the regular drivers back in the six cars handed over for FP1. That makes the second session the first opportunity to see both cars from every team in their scheduled race-weekend pairings. Final practice follows at 14:30 GMT on Saturday, ahead of qualifying at 18:00 GMT.

GRANDE PRÊMIO is following every session of the São Paulo Grand Prix live from Interlagos in Formula 1.
