Is there an F1 sprint race in Brazil?

No. The 2026 São Paulo Grand Prix follows the traditional weekend format.

Friday features two free practice sessions, Saturday includes the final practice session and qualifying, and Sunday’s Grand Prix takes place over 71 laps.

The absence of a sprint means there will be no additional championship points available on Saturday.

Antonelli’s first race as world champion

Antonelli secured the 2026 Drivers’ Championship at the Mexico City Grand Prix, finishing third behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes driver became the youngest champion in Formula 1 history at 20 years old, ending Italy’s 73-year wait for another Drivers’ World Championship.

The Italian’s title-winning performance in Mexico also placed Mercedes within reach of the Constructors’ Championship.

The German manufacturer can secure the team title in Brazil if it extends its advantage over Ferrari sufficiently.

What should Indian fans watch for in São Paulo?

Although the Drivers’ Championship has been decided, several important battles remain.

Verstappen and Hamilton are separated by only a small number of points in the fight for second place, while Ferrari is attempting to recover from its controversial Mexican Grand Prix.

The São Paulo Grand Prix will also test whether Mercedes can maintain its advantage against Red Bull and Ferrari after both showed strong race pace in Mexico.
