The 2026 São Paulo Grand Prix starts at 14:00 local time at Interlagos on Sunday, November 8. That is 17:00 in the UK and Ireland, 12:00 in New York and Toronto, 09:00 in Los Angeles and 22:30 in India. The FIA’s revised Sunday timetable keeps the Grand Prix in its original slot after Saturday’s qualifying session was interrupted by heavy rain.
The race is scheduled for 71 laps of the 4.309km Autódromo José Carlos Pace. This is a conventional Grand Prix weekend. Sunday’s race is the only points-paying F1 session at Interlagos, and Mercedes can use it to clinch the constructors’ championship.

Who starts on pole and where did the penalties put Hamilton and Verstappen?
Lando Norris took pole with a 1:27.470 in the brief window before the rain returned in Q3. George Russell was second quickest, 0.204s behind, but his five-place grid penalty puts Andrea Kimi Antonelli alongside Norris. The Mercedes driver, who clinched the drivers’ title in Mexico City, finished second to Norris at Interlagos last year. The rain-hit qualifying session was stopped for nearly 84 minutes in Q1 before the field resumed on full wet tyres.
Liam Lawson and Nico Hülkenberg occupy the second row on the FIA’s provisional grid. Russell is seventh and Charles Leclerc is 14th after their respective five- and 10-place drops. A separate set of penalties puts Lewis Hamilton 20th, Max Verstappen 21st and Sergio Pérez 22nd. Hamilton’s total reached 75 places after Ferrari replaced his entire power unit following trouble in final practice.
Mercedes leads Ferrari 630–504 in the constructors’ standings. If it outscores Ferrari by at least three points on Sunday, it will clinch the title at Interlagos. That makes Russell’s progress from seventh and Ferrari’s recovery from 14th and 20th worth tracking even if Norris leads the race at the front.
The forecast for Interlagos leaves open the possibility of further showers. The latest FIA timetable retains the scheduled 14:00 local start.
