Alexander Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne completed a clean sweep of Formula 2’s two Azerbaijan GP pole positions for Rodin Motorsport on Thursday.
Dunne controlled the opening 20-minute session with a 1:55.383, beating Stenshorne by only 0.033s. Noel León completed the top three ahead of Kush Maini and championship contender Rafael Câmara.
Stenshorne responded emphatically in Qualifying 2. The Norwegian produced a 1:53.728, finishing 0.445s ahead of Dunne as Rodin secured another front-row lockout. Câmara improved to third, while championship leader Nikola Tsolov finished eighth.
Each Rodin driver collected 2 championship points. Dunne consequently moves from 139 to 141 points, reducing his deficit to Tsolov from 38 to 36 before the three races in Baku.
Câmara beats Tsolov—but reverse grid helps championship leader
Câmara defeated Tsolov in both qualifying sessions and will start ahead of the Bulgarian in the two Feature Races.
The Invicta driver recorded a 1:55.621 in Qualifying 1, placing fifth and finishing 0.336s faster than Tsolov. In the second session, Câmara’s 1:54.227 secured third, while Tsolov’s 1:54.685 left him eighth and 0.458s behind his championship rival.
The first result, however, creates an immediate complication for Câmara.
The top ten from Qualifying 1 are reversed to form the Sprint grid. Tsolov therefore benefits from qualifying tenth and will start Friday’s shorter race from pole position, while Câmara lines up sixth.
Qualifying 1 also establishes the grid for the first Feature Race without inversion, giving Câmara fifth and Tsolov tenth. Qualifying 2 determines the second Feature Race, for which Câmara starts third and Tsolov eighth.
Tsolov retains his 177–170 championship advantage because neither title contender collected qualifying bonus points. As Baku offers a maximum of 67 points, the three races can still transform the title fight before the final two rounds.
