Honda kicked off Tuesday (21) by unlocking its pending announcements in MotoGP. First, the Japanese manufacturer confirmed a multi-year deal with David Alonso, who will step up from Moto2, and shortly after, a two-year contract with Fabio Quartararo.

However, while Quartararo has already been named as a factory rider for HRC, Alonso’s final destination remains up in the air. The Colombian could make his premier class debut straight with the factory squad, but riding for LCR remains an option. Should the #80 head to the satellite outfit, it would leave Diogo Moreira to partner ‘El Diablo’.

The Brazilian is currently in his rookie MotoGP season and, after the first 11 rounds of the year, sits as the second highest-placed Honda in the Riders’ Championship standings—31 points adrift of Luca Marini, but ahead of the injured Johann Zarco and Joan Mir.

A few days ago, Moreira was asked which team he would be riding for in 2027, but he indicated that talks should take place during the summer break. The #11 holds a direct contract with HRC valid through 2028.

Yamaha and KTM, on the other hand, are completely overhauling their works teams. At the Iwata squad, Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura form a brand-new pairing, while the Mattighofen factory will line up with Álex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Gresini has also fully locked in its lineup, featuring Joan Mir alongside Dani Holgado. Fermín Aldeguer, who currently rides for Nadia Padovani’s outfit, is expected to move to VR46 given his ties with Ducati.

Johann Zarco’s future is settled as well. The Frenchman’s contract with HRC runs through the end of next year, and he will remain with Lucio Cecchinello’s squad.

The #5’s situation mirrors that of Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. The Turk enters the final year of his two-year deal with Yamaha and will continue competing with Pramac.

With Tuesday’s announcements, only seven seats remain open on next year’s grid: one at Pramac, and both rides at VR46, Tech3, and Trackhouse.
