It completes a remarkable championship turnaround. Márquez arrived at Misano 19 points behind Martín, having already cut a 40-point deficit to 19 with a perfect weekend at Aragón. Two rounds and 74 points later, the deficit has disappeared completely.
Márquez had acknowledged before the weekend that Misano could be more complicated than Aragón, but the result was ultimately identical.
Martín did everything possible to limit the damage during Saturday’s Sprint. While Márquez beat Marco Bezzecchi to victory, the Aprilia rider recovered to third and entered Sunday still 14 points ahead.
