Jorge Martín strengthened his position at the top of the 2026 MotoGP standings by finishing second in the Austrian GP, opening a 12-point advantage over Marc Márquez with seven rounds remaining.

Martín arrived at the Red Bull Ring level with Márquez on 274 points. His victory in Saturday’s Sprint gave him a three-point lead, which increased further after Márquez struggled to fifth in Sunday’s Grand Prix.

The Aprilia rider now has 306 points, compared with Márquez’s 294. Marco Bezzecchi remains third on 264, leaving the second factory Aprilia rider 42 points behind his team-mate.

Pedro Acosta is the weekend’s biggest mover among the leading contenders. The Spaniard recovered from crashing out of the Sprint lead to defeat Martín in the 28-lap Grand Prix and secure his first MotoGP victory.

That result lifted Acosta to fourth with 234 points, 72 behind Martín. The outcome also vindicated the argument that Austria represented his strongest remaining opportunity to win with KTM.

Fabio Di Giannantonio remains fifth despite finishing ninth in Austria, while Ai Ogura’s fourth place on his return from injury moved him to 222 points, eight behind the VR46 rider.

Raúl Fernández holds seventh ahead of Álex Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia. Fermín Aldeguer completes the championship top ten after collecting eight points at the Red Bull Ring.

Aprilia extends teams’ championship advantage

Martín and Bezzecchi’s double podium increased Aprilia Racing’s total to 570 points. The factory team now holds a 120-point advantage over Ducati Lenovo, which leaves Austria with 450.

Trackhouse is third on 425 after Ogura finished fourth and Fernández placed 12th. Acosta’s victory and Brad Binder’s sixth place moved Red Bull KTM to 328 points.

The Austrian manufacturer remains 97 points behind Trackhouse but has opened a 42-point advantage over VR46. Gresini sits only four points further behind in sixth.

Aprilia moves ten points clear of Ducati

Aprilia also strengthened its position in the constructors’ championship. The Italian manufacturer has 442 points, ten more than Ducati, after placing three RS-GP motorcycles inside the top four in Austria.

KTM remains third with 277 points after Acosta delivered its first Grand Prix victory of 2026. Honda holds fourth on 146, with Yamaha fifth on 84.
