Jorge Martín stated that consistency is key if he is to remain in the MotoGP title hunt through to the end of the season. The Spaniard praised the form of rivals such as Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Márquez, asserting that continued effort is essential.
Martín headed into the MotoGP summer break leading the Riders’ Standings. The 2024 champion accumulated 208 points over the opening 11 rounds of the year and holds a 14-point advantage over Ai Ogura in second place. Marc Márquez sits third, 18 points adrift.
Bezzecchi, on the other hand, spent most of the championship atop the standings, but after scoring just 13 points across the last four races, he plummeted to fourth position, falling 22 points off Martín’s lead.
Despite Bezzecchi’s setback and Martín’s narrow lead, the Aprilia RS-GP has proven to be the standout bike of the season, which could serve as a key asset in the run-in of a campaign that will see few future updates, as manufacturers are already shifting focus to 2027, when a new era of MotoGP machinery arrives.
“If I can fight for the title until the very end, it will be an advantage, but I have to get there first, and for that, I need consistency,” Martín told Italian outlet Motosprint. “Every rival is different, and Marco is showing a very high level, just like Márquez,” he noted.
“I think [Massimo] Rivola’s goal is to put me in a position to win. I’m definitely focusing on myself, and I think I’ll do everything possible to give myself a shot at winning, so I’m calm in that sense,” he commented. “The work, both in Noale and at the track, has been incredible, and fighting against Ducati is exciting, but we have to keep pushing,” he concluded.
MotoGP now enters its summer break and will return to action from August 7–9 with the British Grand Prix, marking the 12th round of the 2026 season.
