Jorge Martín remains the MotoGP championship leader, but his advantage over Marc Márquez is down to just 2 points after the Japanese Grand Prix. Márquez completed a Motegi double, winning Sunday’s race ahead of Martín and Marco Bezzecchi.

The result leaves Martín on 333 points and Márquez on 331, setting up another closely contested weekend at Mandalika. Márquez arrived in Japan 12 points behind and recovered 10 across the Sprint and Grand Prix. The full Japanese GP report and race results explain how he overturned Martín’s early advantage on Sunday.

Japan also brought the manufacturers’ contest level: Ducati and Aprilia now have 469 points each, with Ducati listed first in the official classification. Aprilia Racing remains comfortably ahead in the teams’ championship, however, benefiting from both Martín and Bezzecchi finishing on the Grand Prix podium.

MotoGP riders’ standings after the Japanese GP

Bezzecchi remains third with 284 points, 49 behind Martín. His Sunday podium limited the damage after finishing sixth in the Sprint, although Márquez’s double increased the gap between the Ducati rider and the third-placed Aprilia.

Pedro Acosta retains fourth on 243 points. Ai Ogura’s sixth-place finish moved him ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio into fifth, while Francesco Bagnaia passed Álex Márquez for eighth.

Diogo Moreira remains 14th with 74 points. He scored 9 points through his breakthrough second place in the Sprint but added none on Sunday after crashing out.

MotoGP teams’ standings after Japan

Aprilia Racing leads with 617 points, 122 ahead of Ducati Lenovo Team. Martín and Bezzecchi contributed 36 points on Sunday, compared with 33 from Márquez and Bagnaia.

Trackhouse remains third with 453 points after Raúl Fernández and Ogura finished fifth and sixth. KTM’s factory team holds fourth, while Gresini stays just 2 points ahead of VR46 in fifth.

The teams’ classification includes points contributed by eligible replacement riders, so its totals should be read from the official standings rather than calculated solely from the current full-time pairing.

Ducati and Aprilia leave Motegi tied on 469 points. Márquez earned the maximum 37 points available across the weekend, while Martín contributed 27 as Aprilia’s highest-finishing rider in both races.

Unlike the teams’ championship, the constructors’ contest awards points only to the highest-placed rider from each manufacturer in each race. Ducati therefore recovered 10 points on Aprilia in Japan.

KTM remains third with 296 points, followed by Honda on 161 and Yamaha on 89.
