Manuel González thought he had secured the Moto2 British GP win, but miscalculated the lap count and crossed the line celebrating with one lap left. To make matters worse, as he sat up, he was clipped from behind by Daniel Holgado, suffering exhaust pipe damage that caused him to tumble down the order to finish 14th. Filip Salač inherited the lead to claim his maiden Moto2 victory.
