Schumacher will therefore replace Felix Rosenqvist, who is leaving Meyer Shank Racing after the 2026 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcement comes with just one race remaining in Schumacher\u2019s rookie IndyCar campaign with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. The German has adapted quickly to North American open-wheel racing, including his first experiences on ovals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schumacher\u2019s first season has included several encouraging performances. He qualified <strong>4th at Phoenix<\/strong> and also took 4th in Race 2 at Milwaukee before scoring a season-best 8th-place finish at Nashville. At the Indianapolis 500, he completed all 200 laps and was named <strong>Indy 500 Rookie of the Year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move had been expected for some time, with Meyer Shank Racing confirming in July that Armstrong would remain with the team but switch to the No. 60 for 2027. Rosenqvist, meanwhile, had already announced his departure from MSR after the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer Shank Racing and really excited to be joining such an ambitious team. It\u2019s going to be a special journey to start working with MSR,\u201d Schumacher said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am looking forward to what more I can learn from the team. They\u2019ve had some really great success, and of course, going to an Indy 500-winning team is awesome,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt will be great to start meeting everyone on the team and working with MSR\u2019s partners. I\u2019m really just excited to begin working toward 2027 together and really start thinking about how we can create a great partnership together,\u201d Schumacher concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schumacher will also take <strong>ENVE Composites<\/strong> with him to Meyer Shank Racing. The advanced materials company supported his first IndyCar season and will become a partner of MSR in 2027. ENVE also has a presence in the junior single-seater ladder through its motorsports program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meyer Shank co-owner Mike Shank praised Schumacher\u2019s progress throughout his rookie campaign and highlighted his adaptation to oval racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to have Mick and ENVE join us next year. He really impressed us in his first season of INDYCAR. It is not an easy series to come into and the competition is incredibly tight, but when you look at what he\u2019s accomplished and the progress he\u2019s made throughout the year, we see a lot of potential in him,\u201d Shank said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s also shown tremendous pace on the ovals, which is a huge hurdle for any driver coming into INDYCAR without that experience. He\u2019s adapted quickly, and we\u2019re excited to see what he can do with another year of experience and with our group around him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The signing means Meyer Shank will enter 2027 with <strong>Schumacher and Armstrong<\/strong>, while Rosenqvist will move on after helping the team secure its first Indianapolis 500 victory in 2026.
