I believe he understood, and he told me that. He accepted that Yamaha had underestimated the difficulty of introducing its first modern-era MotoGP V4 engine while simultaneously preparing for the 2027 technical regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The manufacturer expected an initial performance deficit but has operated near the lower end of its internal projections. Reliability problems restricted development early in the season, while the M1 continues to lack performance in fifth and sixth gear despite improving its rear grip and acceleration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yamaha\u2019s decision to race the V4 throughout 2026 was partly made to accelerate its preparations for the new 850cc regulations. Its rivals already possess extensive experience with V4 architecture, and the narrower aerodynamic limits coming in 2027 made retaining the traditional inline-four increasingly difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have struggled more than expected,\u201d Pavesio admitted. \u201cWe are learning every day, and introducing the V4 one year earlier was a necessary choice with 2027 in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That long-term reasoning offers little consolation to Quartararo. He will join Honda next season and therefore receives no direct benefit from Yamaha sacrificing immediate competitiveness to improve its future motorcycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quartararo has already <a href=\"https:\/\/grandepremio.com\/en\/motogp\/fabio-quartararo-refuses-help-yamaha-motogp-development-2027\/\">rejected a role in Yamaha\u2019s 2027 development programme<\/a>, although he remains willing to evaluate parts intended to improve the current M1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arag\u00f3n dispute provided necessary reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quartararo later conceded that frustration had led both sides to make comments that \u201cmaybe weren\u2019t right\u201d. He said the subsequent meeting resolved the immediate disagreement and restored normal working conditions inside the garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pavesio now views the Arag\u00f3n confrontation as an uncomfortable but necessary reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFabio is part of our history,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will do everything for Yamaha first of all, and for him, to develop the bike as well as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would like us to use these final months together not only to remember what we achieved but also to work calmly and remember the good things. Quartararo is trying to remain competitive during his final races with Yamaha, while the manufacturer must increasingly direct resources towards the riders and motorcycle it will field in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yamaha\u2019s stance has also been consistent with its decision to prioritise future riders for the Pirelli programme. Quartararo was omitted because he is leaving for Honda, just as several rival manufacturers initially excluded departing riders from their own 2027 development plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Frenchman\u2019s departure forms part of a complete factory-team overhaul.
