With Formula 1 on the brink of diving into the European summer break, Andrea Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers’ Standings with a 44-point cushion over second-placed Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver has won 6 of the 10 races contested so far and stands as the runaway title favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to journalists on the eve of the Hungarian GP, Antonelli was asked if he considers himself the top driver on the current grid. The Italian remained humble, but acknowledged that he has made fewer mistakes than his competitors in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s hard to say. I think I’ve been one of the best, but I wouldn’t call myself the absolute best on the grid. To be honest, if you look at it, I think we’re the ones making the fewest mistakes. I think that’s what got us to this position and allowed us to pull off strong results,” the Italian declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antonelli did face a tricky stretch earlier in the season, failing to score points in two races and watching his championship lead shrink, but he believes he can be pleased with his performance so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of course, we’ve had a strong car, but from my side, I think I can be happy heading into the summer break. Obviously, we still have this weekend to complete, but in terms of overall execution alongside the team, I think we’ve done a great job,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
