On Sunday (26), Max Verstappen finished the race in second place, while Isack Hadjar crossed the line in sixth. Following the session at the Hungaroring, both drivers received praise from the team boss, who is dreaming of seeing the team on top of the podium before the 2026 season ends.

Speaking to British broadcaster Sky Sports, Mekies described the race as “super consistent” and highlighted the improvement in race pace. He also congratulated the Milton Keynes squad, noting that everyone is “fighting hard” to claim their first win of the year.

Isack Hadjar finished sixth at the Hungarian GP (Photo: Red Bull Content Pool)

“It’s not a win, but it was a super consistent race. There are two very good pieces of news. The first is that the race pace of the car was much stronger than what we had shown earlier this weekend. The second is that, once again, the team, Max, and Isack executed everything extremely well,” he stated.

“Last week, we had a solid race at Spa. We had another solid race here after struggling quite a bit throughout the weekend. Because of that, congratulations to everyone in Milton Keynes. The chassis, the power unit, and the overall package confirmed that we’ve been in the fight for the podium in the last three races. Not for the win just yet, but everyone is fighting hard so we can take that final step,” he added.

Formula 1 now enters the summer break.
