Charles Leclerc has experienced his fair share of tense moments with Max Verstappen in both Formula 1 and karting, but insists those differences are ancient history. The Monegasque even admitted he would have no issues pairing up with the four-time World Champion at the same team in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leclerc and Verstappen belong to the same generation\u2014both aged 28\u2014and launched their motorsport careers around the same time. Consequently, they shared the track across various championships and forged a fierce rivalry during their karting days. Their paths through junior single-seaters diverged, however: the Dutchman made his F1 debut in 2015, while the Monegasque entered the grid as a race driver in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In F1, the pair have also shared heated moments on track, notably their wheel-to-wheel clashes at the 2019 Austrian and British Grands Prix, as well as their early title duel during the first half of the 2022 season. According to Leclerc, while their relationship was once turbulent, time has smoothed over their past differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur relationship has matured over the years. I was convinced he was a bad person, and he thought the exact same of me. But the situation has changed now,\u201d Leclerc told Sky Italia<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leclerc is widely regarded as one of the premier talents on the grid, and historically, top-tier teams tend to suffer intense internal friction when fielding two heavyweight drivers. For Charles, however, sharing a garage with Max holds no fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVerstappen is an exceptional driver who has won four World Championships, but fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some brilliant teammates\u2014[Lewis] Hamilton, [Sebastian] Vettel, [Carlos] Sainz\u2014so I wouldn’t be worried if it ever happened,\u201d Leclerc highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt would also make a great story because we started together back in 2010 and competed across every karting category. Having him at Ferrari? Let’s just enjoy Lewis for now,\u201d Leclerc concluded with a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
