The 31-year-old returned to Pramac last year when the team switched from Ducati to Yamaha. However, Pramac opted for a new direction for 2027, promoting Moto2 rider Izan Guevara to partner Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. Yamaha has already confirmed Guevara’s promotion to complete the Pramac lineup.
Despite the split, Yamaha made clear that Miller’s contribution to its MotoGP project was highly valued, particularly during the development of its V4 power unit. The manufacturer also expressed a desire to continue working with the Australian in the future.

Yamaha sees Miller as key to R1 development
Yamaha Motor Europe Road Racing Sporting Manager Niccolò Canepa welcomed Miller to the WorldSBK project and said the opportunity to bring the Australian into the official team was “too good to miss.”
“We are hugely excited to welcome Jack Miller to Yamaha’s WorldSBK project in 2027 and, personally, I am very happy to have him join our team,” Canepa said.
“The opportunity to bring a rider of his experience and talent into our official team was too good to miss, and we are already looking forward to the first tests,” he added.
Canepa highlighted Miller’s Grand Prix experience, particularly his knowledge of Michelin tyres, as an important asset for Yamaha’s WorldSBK program.
“His Grand Prix experience, particularly his knowledge of Michelin tyres, will be extremely valuable for us,” Canepa said. “He has already achieved strong results with the R1 at Suzuka, so we are excited to see what he can do on a WorldSBK-spec bike and what he can contribute to the continued development of the R1.”
The Yamaha executive also believes Miller’s profile can help the manufacturer strengthen its presence in WorldSBK.
“Beyond the technical side, Jack’s personality and international profile will also be a great asset to strengthen Yamaha’s presence and bring even more attention to the WorldSBK Championship,” Canepa said. “We are very much looking forward to starting this chapter together.”
Miller’s move marks the end of a 12-season MotoGP career in which he won four Grands Prix and scored 23 premier-class podiums. The Australian had already acknowledged that his MotoGP chapter was coming to an end before his next move was confirmed.
His move also further reshapes the Yamaha rider structure ahead of MotoGP’s major technical reset in 2027, with 850cc engines and new regulations. Miller’s experience will now be transferred to Yamaha’s production-based racing program while the manufacturer continues developing its next-generation MotoGP project.
