Key takeaways

Rafael Câmara is taking the final preparatory steps before a crucial evaluation test with Haas for a 2027 Formula 1 seat. The Brazilian driver took to the track at Mugello behind the wheel of Ferrari’s 2025 car, the SF-25, in a dedicated session organized by Maranello.

According to Italian outlet Autoracer, Ferrari scheduled a two-day Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) event at Mugello from August 26–27. While Dino Beganovic and Antonio Fuoco are also scheduled to log laps for simulator alignment, the primary objective centers on preparing Câmara for his upcoming run with Haas in Portugal.

The Mugello test is designed to refine Câmara’s familiarity with systems management, procedural routines, and high-downforce characteristics before he steps into the Haas machine at Portimão.

As reported by GPblog, the Portuguese evaluation session runs from August 26–28 and features a direct comparison between Câmara, McLaren Development Driver Leonardo Fornaroli, and Toyota-backed driver Ryō Hirakawa. Current Haas driver Oliver Bearman will also participate to set reference lap times for the trio.

Câmara, a prominent member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, won the Formula 3 championship last season and continues his strong progression in Formula 2. The 21-year-old holds third place in the F2 standings with 145 points, just 22 points adrift of championship leader Nikola Tsolov.

The track activity comes as Ferrari detailed its partnership with Haas and support for Rafael Câmara’s 2027 F1 seat bid, while Ferrari prepares a special SF-26 tribute livery for Michael Schumacher at Monza. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso revealed that Aston Martin is “back to square one” with its updated Honda power unit.

Formula 1 returns from September 4–6 at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2026 season. GRANDE PRÊMIO provides complete live coverage of all track action. Follow all updates on our news page.
