Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic since 2023, took on an unusual role during the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. While high-ranking political figures frequently attend races for diplomatic or business purposes, Pavel arrived at the Hungaroring as an accredited photographer.

Pavel arrived at the Hungarian GP on Saturday, equipped with official FIA credentials and professional camera gear. The Czech president is an avid enthusiast of both photography and motorsport, having covered various racing series around the globe.

In June, for instance, Pavel attended the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his camera equipment. He has also covered MotoGP and World Superbike events at Brno, as well as NASCAR races in the United States and the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

Beyond being a hobby, Pavel uses his photography for charitable causes. Through an auction in 2025, he raised €30,000 for organizations supporting children, single parents, and the elderly.
