Max Verstappen outlined Red Bull’s upcoming priorities in Formula 1. The four-time World Champion made no secret that the team headed into the European summer break with lingering issues to address—particularly regarding the RB22’s inconsistent performance—and stated he dreams of a new intervention from the ADUO (Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities), the concession mechanism that allows engine manufacturers to introduce performance upgrades during the season.
Verstappen explained that Red Bull’s performance fluctuates between sessions across a race weekend, or sometimes even over the course of a race itself. According to the four-time champion, this is one of the key factors that must be rectified soon.
“We need to find more overall performance. Then, we have to fix our issues where, sometimes, we simply lose performance over the weekend, or even between the start and the end of the race. In truth, that’s a huge priority,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Dutchman expressed that he would like Red Bull to be included in the ADUO framework. However, the Milton Keynes squad was classified as the benchmark power unit in the first evaluation held before the Canadian GP, leaving them without additional upgrade opportunities.
“Well, I would love to have some ADUO as well, somehow. But I don’t know, we’ll see. We’ll revisit that after the summer break,” added the driver of the #3 car.
Formula 1 is currently on summer break. The series resumes 2026 season action from August 21 to 23 with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
