Câmara takes F2 championship lead by one point after chaotic Baku race

Rafael Câmara emerged from the opening Formula 2 Feature Race in Baku as the new championship leader after overtaking Noel León at the finish and securing fourth place.

The Brazilian collected 12 points, moving from 170 to 182. Nikola Tsolov failed to score following his involvement in the seven-car accident that caused a red flag, leaving the Bulgarian on 181 points.

That gives Câmara a one-point advantage heading into the second Feature Race of the Azerbaijan weekend.

Dunne moves firmly back into F2 title fight

Alex Dunne was another major winner in Baku. The Rodin driver controlled the restarted race and collected 26 points, including the bonus for the fastest lap.

Dunne moved from 146 to 172 points, reducing his championship deficit to only ten. The title fight now effectively features three drivers separated by ten points: Câmara, Tsolov and Dunne.

Gabriele Minì remains fourth after adding eight points, but his deficit to the leader increased to 21.

Dino Beganovic’s third place lifted him level with León on 131 points. León remains ahead on countback.

Campos remains ahead in teams’ championship

Campos remains in control of the teams’ standings with 312 points, but the battle behind has tightened considerably.

Invicta added Câmara’s 12 points to reach 272, while Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne delivered a combined 44 points for Rodin. The British team now sits third on 265, only seven behind Invicta.

Beganovic and Roman Bilinski scored 21 points between them, allowing DAMS to move ahead of ART for fifth.

The championship can change again in Saturday’s second Feature Race. Stenshorne starts from pole, with Dunne alongside and Câmara third, while Tsolov faces another recovery drive from eighth.
