Yamaha officially selected Izan Guevara to partner Toprak Razgatlıoğlu at Pramac Racing for the 2027 MotoGP World Championship. The Iwata manufacturer announced the promotion of the Spanish rider from Moto2 on Thursday, coming hours after confirming that Jack Miller will depart the squad at the end of the 2026 season.
Guevara, a member of Yamaha’s BLU CRU development program currently competing for Pramac in Moto2, follows David Alonso (Honda) and Dani Holgado (Gresini) as the third rookie confirmed for the 2027 premier-class grid.

“It’s a dream come true. Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know how difficult it is to reach the main category,” Guevara stated. “I’m very calm, as my focus remains completely on Moto2 where we are fighting for the championship. Looking ahead to 2027, MotoGP will enter a new era, and I believe this will create opportunities for riders stepping up.“
Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director Paolo Pavesio and Pramac Team Principal Paolo Campinotti praised Guevara’s growth following two challenging Moto2 campaigns. Both executives emphasized that MotoGP’s new 850cc technical regulations taking effect in 2027 present an ideal entry point for emerging talent.
Guevara previously sampled premier-class machinery during the post-season test at Valencia in late 2025, riding Jack Miller’s YZR-M1 as part of a bet won with Pramac Team Manager Gino Borsoi.
The driver market update arrives as track action resumes ahead of Round 13, with Pedro Acosta confirming a radio test during FP1 at MotorLand Aragon, Trackhouse Racing confirming hand surgery for Ai Ogura, and Aprilia revealing its management strategy for Marco Bezzecchi.
