Joshua Dürksen completed a perfect Formula 2 weekend at Monza. After winning Saturday’s Sprint, the Paraguayan took advantage of the strong pace of Invicta Racing to repeat the feat on Sunday (6), this time after a tight battle with teammate Rafael Câmara. Championship leader Nikola Tsolov finished seventh.

Câmara made a strong getaway, but Dürksen reacted even better and positioned himself for an attack into Turn 1. The Brazilian locked up, cut the chicane and immediately gave the position back to his teammate. The two Invicta cars remained close, however, and continued to trade the lead over the following laps.

Dürksen was the first of the two leaders to pit, coming in on Lap 7 while running second. Two laps later, Câmara made his mandatory stop. The Paraguayan emerged ahead after the pit cycle and quickly built a 2-second advantage.

On Lap 12, however, the Safety Car was deployed after Colton Herta stopped in the gravel, bunching up the field.

When racing resumed, Dürksen produced an excellent restart and opened a useful gap to Câmara, who then had to defend from Alex Dunne and Noel León. The Brazilian closed in during the final stages, but could not find a way past his teammate.

Dürksen’s car then broke down almost immediately after he took the chequered flag.

The top 10 was completed by Noel León, John Bennett, Ritomo Miyata, Alex Dunne, Nikola Tsolov, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, Oliver Goethe and Nico Varrone.

The Formula 2 season resumes from September 11-13 with the Madrid round. GRANDE PRÊMIO will continue to provide full coverage of the 2026 season.

How the F2 Feature Race at Monza unfolded

Rafael Câmara was the fastest driver in qualifying and secured pole position for the fifth time this season. Joshua Dürksen, winner of Saturday’s Sprint, completed an all-Invicta front row. When the race began, the Paraguayan got the better launch and immediately looked for an opportunity into the first corner. Câmara braked too late, cut the chicane and subsequently returned the position to his teammate.

Câmara remained close to Dürksen and, at the start of Lap 4, opened the DRS on the main straight, moved down the inside at Turn 1 and reclaimed the lead. Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak was third but struggled to match the pace of the two Invicta drivers.

At that point, Dürksen was instructed over the radio to work with Câmara and make use of the DRS.

On Lap 5, the Paraguayan activated DRS and passed the Brazilian, who offered little resistance. One lap later, however, Câmara hit back and retook the lead.

Dürksen made his mandatory stop on Lap 7, allowing Câmara to breathe slightly easier with a 1.5-second advantage over Inthraphuvasak.

On Lap 8, Alex Dunne, Noel León, John Bennett, Nico Varrone, Gabriele Minì, Rafael Villagómez and Colton Herta made their pit stops. Câmara followed on the next lap, but returned to the track immediately behind Dürksen.

Emerson Fittipaldi Jr., Sebastián Montoya, Dino Beganovic and Kush Maini consequently inherited the lead, although all four still had to make their mandatory stops.

Câmara, meanwhile, began losing contact with Dürksen, who maintained a gap of around 2 seconds while also coming under pressure from Dunne.

On Lap 12, Herta stopped in the gravel and triggered the Safety Car. Fittipaldi, who had been leading the race, was called into the pits and returned in seventh.

Once all drivers had completed their mandatory stops, Dürksen returned to the lead ahead of Câmara, Dunne, León and Bennett. Championship leader Tsolov was only ninth.

Concerned that the softer tire compound might not last until the finish, AIX called Fittipaldi back into the pits. The Brazilian subsequently dropped to 21st.

The restart came on Lap 17. Dürksen got away well again, leaving Câmara to defend from Dunne and León. At the Variante Ascari, the Irishman attempted a move but locked up and ran wide, dropping to fourth. León then began attacking the Invicta leader.

With 10 laps remaining, Câmara started closing on Dürksen but also had to keep León behind. On Lap 21, the Brazilian was less than a second from his teammate, allowing him to use DRS both to attack Dürksen and defend against the Campos driver.

The leading trio pulled clear of Bennett and Dunne, who were fighting over fourth. Up front, however, Câmara could not find a way past Dürksen, who controlled the gap remarkably well even with his teammate benefiting from DRS.

In the closing laps, León’s tires began to fade and he lost contact with the Invicta pair. Câmara increased the pressure, but Dürksen held firm to claim his second victory of the Monza weekend and complete a clean sweep.

The result comes one day after Dürksen’s Sprint victory, when he charged from seventh on the grid to beat John Bennett.
