News Summary
- Marco Bezzecchi won the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix, overtaking Raúl Fernández on lap 19 and ending his victory drought dating back to Mugello.
- Aprilia occupied the first four positions, with Fernández second, Jorge Martín third and Ai Ogura fourth.
- Martín regained the championship lead by two points over Marc Márquez, who finished sixth, while Diogo Moreira missed the points in 16th.
Marco Bezzecchi secured his first MotoGP victory since May by winning the 2026 Indonesian Grand Prix on Sunday, October 11, leading an unprecedented Aprilia sweep of the first four positions at Mandalika.
The Italian overtook Raúl Fernández at Turn 1 on lap 19 of the 27-lap race before pulling away to win in 40:46.582, finishing 4.260s ahead of the injured Trackhouse rider. Jorge Martín completed the podium, with Ai Ogura fourth, securing Aprilia’s first-ever 1-2-3-4 finish in the premier class.
The result also changed the championship standings. Martín returned to the lead with 355 points, two ahead of Marc Márquez, who finished sixth on a difficult afternoon for Ducati. Pedro Acosta completed the top five for KTM, while Diogo Moreira finished 16th for LCR Honda, just outside the points.
Fernández leads despite injury as Bezzecchi gives chase
The race began in demanding conditions, with air temperatures of 29°C and the asphalt reaching 62°C, alongside humidity of 73%.
Fernández made a strong start from pole position despite suffering two fractured fingers in Saturday’s sprint collision with Bezzecchi. The Italian attempted to overtake him at Turn 1 but ran slightly wide, allowing the Trackhouse rider to retain the lead.
Márquez initially moved into third, while Martín dropped to sixth in the opening corners before recovering through the field.
The Aprilia rider passed Fabio Di Giannantonio and then overtook Márquez at Turn 10 to move into third. Fermín Aldeguer, meanwhile, crashed out at Turn 16 on the second lap after briefly running among the leading riders.
Fernández maintained first place as Bezzecchi remained close behind, gradually reducing the gap during the middle stages.
Their battle came less than 24 hours after the two riders had collided at the first corner of the sprint. Fernández subsequently revealed that he had fractured his fingers and accused Bezzecchi of unprofessional riding.
Bezzecchi makes decisive pass on lap 19
Bezzecchi began closing on Fernández as the race entered its second half, taking advantage of his Aprilia’s pace through Mandalika’s flowing corners.
The Italian moved into striking distance and completed the decisive overtake at Turn 1 on lap 19, moving ahead of Fernández and immediately opening a gap.
With clear track ahead, Bezzecchi extended his advantage and controlled the final stages, securing his first Grand Prix victory since the Italian GP at Mugello.
The win also represented the 300th premier-class Grand Prix victory by an Italian rider, adding a national milestone to Aprilia’s historic result.
Fernández maintained second place despite his injuries, while Martín finished third without threatening the leading pair in the closing stages.
Martín retakes MotoGP lead as Márquez finishes sixth
Martín entered Sunday’s race four points behind Márquez, having lost the championship lead during Saturday’s sprint.
The Aprilia rider had led much of the shorter race before a front tyre-pressure problem forced him to surrender first place. A subsequent mistake dropped him to fourth, while Márquez secured victory.
Sunday’s Grand Prix reversed the situation.
Martín recovered from his difficult opening lap to finish third, collecting 16 points and moving to 355 in the championship.
Márquez struggled to match Aprilia’s pace and became involved in a battle with Acosta and Ogura. The Ducati rider eventually finished sixth, 10.778s behind Bezzecchi, earning ten championship points.
The six-point swing moved Martín two points ahead of Márquez, producing the eighth change of championship leader in 2026.
GRANDE PRÊMIO previously documented the first seven championship lead changes, following Márquez’s sprint victory on Saturday.

Ogura completes Aprilia’s historic sweep as Moreira misses points
Ogura delivered another strong performance for Trackhouse, recovering positions in the second half of the race and overtaking Acosta to secure fourth.
The Japanese rider finished 9.378s behind Bezzecchi, just 0.114s ahead of the KTM rider, completing Aprilia’s unprecedented sweep of the top four.
Márquez finished sixth, followed by Álex Márquez, Di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo and Enea Bastianini.
Moreira made progress after starting 20th, gaining positions during the opening laps. However, the Brazilian could not maintain a points-paying position and finished 16th, 34.168s behind the winner.
