The 2026 Formula 2 title fight tightened considerably at Monza, with Nikola Tsolov maintaining the championship lead but Rafael Câmara making significant progress in the battle for the crown.
Câmara entered the Italian round third in the standings and endured a difficult Saturday, when contact with Nico Varrone sent him into a spin during the Sprint Race and left him without points. The Brazilian responded strongly on Sunday, however, finishing second behind teammate Joshua Dürksen in the Feature Race and adding 21 points to his tally. Tsolov, meanwhile, finished sixth in the Sprint and seventh in the Feature Race. The Campos driver collected 10 points across the weekend, meaning Câmara gained 11 points on the championship leader.
Tsolov now has 177 points, compared with 166 for Câmara. Gabriele Minì remains third, but the MP Motorsport driver failed to score at Monza and stayed on 147 points, falling 30 points behind the leader.
The result leaves the championship increasingly shaped as a two-way fight between Tsolov and Câmara, while Minì needs a response in the final rounds to remain within realistic title contention.

Dürksen sweeps Monza and climbs to eighth
While the title battle took centre stage, Joshua Dürksen enjoyed the weekend of his F2 career so far.
The Invicta Racing driver won both the Sprint and Feature races at Monza, becoming the standout performer of the Italian round. His Feature Race victory came after a late battle with teammate Câmara, who reduced the gap to just 0.3s before the chequered flag but could not find a way past.

Alexander Dunne is fourth with 118 points, while Noel León moved to fifth on 114. Kush Maini follows in sixth with 88, ahead of Dino Beganovic on 79.
Laurens van Hoepen and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak complete the top 10, with 66 and 63 points respectively.
Among the other Brazilians, Emerson Fittipaldi Jr. remains 21st with 10 points.
Campos maintains advantage in teams’ standings
The teams’ championship remains led by Campos Racing, which has 291 points after Monza.
Invicta Racing is second on 244, while MP Motorsport holds third with 184. Rodin is fourth on 180, followed by ART Grand Prix on 151.
Further down the order, Trident moved into sixth place with 104 points, one ahead of DAMS. Hitech has 70, Van Amersfoort 53 and Prema 40, while AIX remains last on 20.
The next round of the 2026 F2 season takes place in Madrid from September 11-13. The championship will visit the new Madring circuit for the first time, with Tsolov heading into the Spanish round only 11 points clear of Câmara.
