Formula E unveiled a new visual identity on Wednesday as the all-electric championship prepares to enter the Gen4 era during the 2026/27 season.
The redesign is considerably broader than a replacement logo. Formula E has created new typography, colour palettes, motion graphics and an updated broadcast package intended to work across television, streaming platforms, social media and gaming.
Its new angular logomark incorporates hidden “F” and “E” elements, with the shape intended to communicate acceleration and forward movement. Formula E also says the revised broadcast graphics will make information clearer during high-speed on-track battles.
The championship has structured the identity around five principles: speed and technology, cultural relevance, sustainability through performance, continuity for existing supporters and greater flexibility for manufacturers, sponsors and host cities.
“Our previous identity represented an earlier chapter; this brand refresh reflects exactly where we are going next,” said Formula E chief marketing officer Ellie Norman.
“We believe progress should be thrilling. We are no longer asking people to imagine what the future of racing could be, we are showing them what it looks like. It is fast, competitive, technologically advanced and culturally relevant.”

Formula E rebrand arrives with much more than a new car
The timing reflects the scale of Formula E’s next transformation. Gen4 will introduce permanent four-wheel drive, 450kW in race configuration and up to 600kW during qualifying and Attack Mode.
Formula E expects the car to be approximately five seconds per lap faster than the Gen3 Evo on street circuits, with the difference potentially reaching ten seconds in qualifying conditions.
The championship will also introduce E-Prix Unleashed at selected double-header events. The shorter races will reduce energy management and allow drivers to exploit the Gen4 car’s performance more aggressively.
Formula E’s calendar is expanding to 21 races across 13 cities, including new events at Austin, Brands Hatch and Zandvoort. The championship has already explained why Austin became an important part of its American expansion.
Formula E has additionally secured a global Disney+ broadcasting agreement covering as many as 144 countries from the beginning of the Gen4 era.
That combination explains the need for a more adaptable visual package. Formula E is no longer presenting Gen4 as a routine technical cycle. The championship wants the car, calendar, broadcasting model and brand to communicate the same step forward.
New identity must now be supported by better racing
The redesign is distinctive enough to avoid disappearing into the increasingly familiar world of minimal corporate logos. More importantly, Formula E has retained a recognisable relationship between the championship’s name, electric technology and movement.
However, the identity will only acquire genuine value if the sporting product delivers. Gen4 represents a considerable increase in power and performance, but manufacturers are still working through the challenges of an entirely new platform.
Early private testing has placed Porsche among the initial reference points, although the competitive picture remains incomplete as manufacturers continue developing their Gen4 packages.
The new logo therefore introduces Formula E’s next era without defining it. That responsibility belongs to Gen4, the drivers and whether the championship can translate greater performance into racing that justifies the surrounding ambition.
Formula E’s 2026/27 season is scheduled to begin with a Jeddah double-header on December 18-19.
